Carolyn D. Deal, Ph.D. is the Chief of the Enteric and Sexually Transmitted Infections Branch, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, National Institutes of Health, USA. Prior positions include Research Microbiologist at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research followed by the Deputy Director for the Division of Bacterial Products, Office of Vaccines Research and Review, Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research, FDA. She works on efforts to advance the development of vaccines, therapeutics, and diagnostics for STIs and bacterial enteric infections.
