Sunil Maharjan 25th International Pathogenic Neisseria Conference 2026

Sunil Maharjan

I am a scientist working on Neisseria biology, antimicrobial resistance, and the development of assays to assess vaccine immunogenicity. My research focuses on outer membrane vesicle (OMV) based vaccines, including the development and application of assays to measure immune responses that support pre clinical and clinical vaccine evaluation. In parallel, I study antimicrobial resistance in pathogenic Neisseria, with a particular interest in how Neisseria gonorrhoeae and Neisseria meningitidis acquire resistance determinants and adapt to different anatomical niches. Through investigating host–pathogen interactions and genetic adaptation, my work aims to better understand how these organisms evolve and persist in environments such as the nasopharynx and the genitourinary tract.
