Fareedah Mohammed Munir
Fareedah Mohammed Munir is a Principal Scientific Officer at the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, where she serves as Strategy Officer in the Office of the Director-General. A biologist with a background in special needs education, she holds a strong interest in the long‑term consequences of infectious diseases.
As a member of Nigeria’s Cerebrospinal Meningitis Technical Working Group, Munir contributes to strengthening post‑epidemic care in a country with recurrent meningitis outbreaks. Her efforts focus on generating evidence to inform policy on survivor care, while also building the case for vaccination as a disability‑preventing intervention. Central to this work is the development of systems to track and assess meningitis survivors, addressing a gap in outbreak response by prioritising recovery and rehabilitation.
