Chloe Flemming
I am a PhD Student at the University of Waikato, New Zealand, in the Molecular and Cellular field. My current research is elucidating the role of the HU protein the drug-resistant, sexually transmitted bacterium Neisseria gonorrhoeae. Previously, I have worked on Golden Gate projects that generated plasmids for the integration of fluorescent genes in both E. coli and N. gonorrhoeae as research tools and validated these strains. Aside from my research, I paint. Most paintings are pet portrait commissions and I have had a piece showcased in the annual Craigs Aspiring Art Prize competition gallery in 2025.
